Offender Management
Offender Management is the management of the Offender during the sentence to ensure that all aspects/ requirements are being complied with and to review the level of risk the Offender poses.

Working with the courts
Avon and Somerset Probation supply reports for the courts, these are mainly Pre Sentence Reports, Specific Sentence Reports and Bail Information Reports.

Interventions
Probation is responsible for addressing the offenders behaviour and one of the methods of doing this is to work with the offender on a programme which will address the triggers for the behaviour.

The Accredited Offending Behaviour Programmes available in Avon & Somerset are:
Addressing Substance-Related Offending (ASRO),
Aggression Replacement Training (ART),
Drink Impaired Drivers (DID),
Integrated Domestic Abuse Programme (IDAP), ThinkFirst programme and the Thames Valley Sex Offender Groupwork Programme (TVSOGP).
Internet Sex Offenders Treatment Programme (ISOTP).

Community Payback
The Community Payback scheme is designed to help offenders realise their responsibility to the community by paying for their crimes by working to benefit the community. The court will allocate a number of hours to be worked off by the offender without payment benefiting the community.

Approved Premises
Avon and Somerset Probation has 3 Approved Premises in the Area and support a fourth which is voluntary managed. The Approved Premises are intended to support offenders stepping from Prison back into the community, although they can also be used for offenders on bail.

Victims
Key to all probation work is the Victim, Avon and Somerset Probation’s Victim Unit work closely with victims ensuring that they receive support and regular updates about the related offenders sentencing and conditions of release. We also work with the offender regarding impact of their crime on others.
